Rocky Smith

Bio:

After spending his early years on college campuses while his parents completed graduate work, Rocky moved with his family to the big city of Richlands at a fairly young age (so long ago he can't remember how old he was).  Rocky graduated from Richlands High School in 1980 where he was a member of the Blue Tornado Football team (for some strange reason his name has been deleted from the football record books at RHS).  Asked about his time at RHS as a student Rocky says "that was the best eight years of my life." Upon graduation Rocky attended and actually graduated from South West Virginia Community College and eventually obtained a B.S. degree from Bluefield College.  Along the way he got married then divorced and says "Being married was pretty cool, but you have more closet space when you get divorced."  He also spent ten years in the fitness industry as co-owner of Richlands fitness club then spent ten years working in radio where he met Dave Mann. These guys actually did a morning show together way back when.  Believe it or not Rocky is now in his sixth year as a teacher at Richlands High School. When asked what he teaches at RHS he said "Best I can figure, it's history 'cause there's a lot  of old stuff in the book." Upon checking with the people at RHS, Rocky actually does teach History and current events.  In his spare time Rocky enjoys spending time with his family, friends, and girlfriend (yes he really does have a girlfriend) and outdoor activities such as fishing and running (he's really slow).  He's a major football fan who pulls for Virginia Tech, Marshall, and Tennessee in college and his favorite pro team is the Redskins (5-11 last year). Rocky is proud to be part of the Blue Tornado Football Network and when asked why he wanted to be involved with broadcasting Blue Tornado Football Rocky said "I get into all the games free. You can't beat that."
